伊藤伝七還暦祝賀会

六月二十九日（日） Got up at 4.30 A.M. and got in the harbor of Cherbourg at 6.25. Went through the custom house and left the place 7.22 A.M. reaching Paris 1.15 P.M. I became acquainted with a young Swiss on board the steamer. We agreed to travel together as far as Basel, and we helped each other. His name is Jean Aemisegger. He is a designer in N.Y. After buying the R.R. tickets we took lunch together and walked along the Bourvald［sic］and then took supper at a restaurant where I was surprised to the wife of the proprietor speak a few Japanese words. We took 9 P.M. train to Zurich. Aemisegger left to Basel. 朝の4時30分に起床。6時25分にシェルブール港に入った。税関を抜けて出発したのが朝7時22分、パリに着いたのが午後1時15分であった。私は汽船の上で若いスイス人と知り合いになった。バーゼルまでは一緒に行こうということになり、2人で助け合う。ジャン・エミゼッガーという青年だ。ニューヨークでデザインの仕事をしている。列車の切符を買って、共に昼食をとり、大通りをぶらぶら歩き、とあるレストランで夕食にしたが、驚いたことに店主の夫人が少し日本語を話した。午後9時の列車でチューリッヒをめざす。エミゼッガーは バーゼルへと発った。
